Cape House

The main entry on the west side of the house reveals uninterrupted views of the Atlantic Ocean. Just beyond the foyer, the two story central hallway and open floor plan visually connect the living room to the combined dining, kitchen and sitting areas.

The great room offers ample space for gathering. The dining area holds an extra wide table able to accommodate seating for 12. The kitchen area features a 6 burner Wolf gas range and oven, an electric Miele oven, Sub Zero refrigerator, two full size sinks and a sculpted butcher block island with overhang for up to 4 chairs. The sitting area, with built-in 5 seat sofa, is open to the dining and kitchen and oriented towards the hidden large screen TV. Walk-in pantry not shown.

The kitchen's custom concrete counter tops were made by a local artist using local sand. The hand picked stone aggregate collected on the beach below the house is revealed to create a one of a kind visual texture. (Note the pieces of beach glass in the mix!)

A love for rich wood grains and Japanese aesthetic are reflected in many details of the house. Here, walnut drawers with Nakashima style pulls tie the kitchen cabinets to the wide plank walnut floors, Shoji screens and concrete beams are used in the double sided fireplace.

The dining area nestled next to the double sided fireplace opens to an expansive deck overlooking the ocean. Looking south, the central hall is the main circulation path between the living room, second level office, office bridge, upper decks, and the master bedroom beyond. Not seen - master hallway built in desk area and bookshelves.

As the sole second story space, the office is an office beyond compare. A built in desk, second desk area and window seat all face the ocean with endless views. Watch the sun rise or set from the eastern deck, or cross the bridge to a secluded western deck for afternoon sun and seclusion.

Highlighting the ocean views, the master bedroom features a raised sleeping area which creates the comfort of a smaller space within a much larger room. This space was carefully oriented to enjoy magical sunrises throughout the seasons. Not shown - large walk in closet, private entrance, private deck and outdoor shower.

The master bathroom contains a large three head shower with steam, double sinks and extra deep soaking tub. Custom cabinets and concrete counters, sinks and surrounds create a strong foundation for another room with expansive views. With garden and ocean views, the second bedroom on the owner's end of the house contains an en suite bath and private entrance. This bedroom is large enough to share or can be divide into two separate spaces.

The concrete sink and vanity in bedroom 2's en suite bathroom is another custom work of art. Made with local sand and stones, this sink is just one of 5 custom sinks found in the house.

Located on the north end of the house, this bedroom and en-suite bathroom share the same grand views, private access and finishes of the main level living . Not shown - built in window seat with garden views and north side outdoor shower.

Views, privacy, access.

Located on the garden level, this ground level bedroom with high ceilings is nestled into the landscape below bedroom 3. Private access and en-suite bathroom with custom sink offers occupants another wonderful oasis.

Similar to the main floor, the lower level is organized with a central living space flanked by bedrooms on either end. This large room with high ceilings contains the home theater, built-in bookshelves and additional space for play (not seen).

Separated by french doors from the theater and southern bedrooms, the game room contains a large bar area with under counter Sub Zero refrigerator/freezer, and spaces for a ping pong or pool table, seating and darts. 

One of the two garden level southern bedrooms is this warm and quiet bedroom with high ceilings, walk-in closet and built-in desk. A perfect hideaway.

A tranquil room with high ceilings and en-suite bathroom ensure a wonderful place for reflection. Currently set up with twin day beds and trundles gives this bedroom the flexibility to comfortably sleep 4.

Located in a separate building under the garage, the totally private garden level suite is in a special world of its own. The combined dining, food preparation, living and sleeping areas as well as private en-suite bathroom and outdoor shower (not shown) make this unit self contained.
